The pink ‘roulotte’

The pink Roulotte

A ‘roulotte’ is French for a mobile home. In a world that’s getting faster and faster, I often need to withdraw from the hustle and bustle of life. And there’s where a roulotte, as I like to call it, appeals to my imagination.

A roulotte has everything I need. It would be decorated with crocheted plaids and flower garlands. It has a small table to paint and a lazy rattan chair (as the ones we had in the sixtees) makes it complete. To relax (read dream and muse) and of course to read. My paraphernalia and a small selection of books would be within reach, and it would serve perfectly as my mobile studio. Although it’s not my intention to really travel on the paved roads, the traveling consists of the creative process in myself. Painting, art-journaling and writing, some stitching or crocheting flower garlands. There’s the small window that has a flower basket with geraniums. Life is a journey and we better make it as beautiful as can be.

I like to illustrate my imaginary world by expressing and translating my thoughts and feelings into color and pattern.
