Paper maché

Who hasn’t play with papermaché in childhood!? It’s not as controllable as clay and sort of unpredictable and uncontrollable which I love. Like watercolors it can be stubborn and doing its own thing.
I had fun making this mobile. To begin with I made a rough from cardboard and balls of paper. For the binder I used wall paper paste. On the internet you can find all kinds of recipes for maybe a better solution but for me this worked out fine.
In my recent paintings there were a lot of rainbows so I wanted to make this theme three dimensional.
The animals are only 2 inch big so it was a challenge to mold the features.
For the colors I used gouache as watercolors wet the paper too much, with acrylic varnish as the final coating.

I like to illustrate my imaginary world by expressing and translating my thoughts and feelings into color and pattern.
