Painting retreat with Jennifer Orkin Lewis
When I saw the announcement of Jennifer Orkin Lewis otherwise known as augustwren doing a painting retreat at Long Island NY , I didn’t hesitate for a second. From the beginning, years ago, I followed Jennifer’s painting project in which she does her daily ilustrations in a journal. It’s a delight to visit her Instagram
Jennifer paints a page every day. All of it so inspiring and now there was a chance to attend a workshop, I was thrilled and excited.
I would have to travel by plane, taxi, bus and train, but it didn’t kept me from booking my flight. On Wednesday 13th of September I traveled from Düsseldorf, which isn’t too far away from us, to JFK in NYC. I had it planned safely so I stayed in New York city for one night were I arrived by taxi.
The next day I had to travel to the very east of Long Island, Southold, and one of the ways was by the Hampton Jitney, a comfortable bus ride for two more hours.

There was a warm welcome at the Beach House in Southold were the painting retreat took place. It was a wonderful house and place to stay, the mood, the big inspiring studio space, all of it such delight.

It was so exciting to meet Jennifer and paint together with her and other lovely artists during the workshop. Jennifer is a lovely, kind person and a fantastic teacher, all of it made it into an unforgettable weekend.
